James Hilton-Barber

jack of all trades.
master of none. some

i'm a maker. it doesn't matter what the medium is, if it involves combining smaller parts into a whole with a sprinkling of the creative process, i'm there for it.

i've been making & building since i was a kid. raised by an artist & sent to a waldorf school, i was exposed to creative play and building from a young age.

i made a ton of movies with a and homemade greenscreen when i was 10. i learnt 2d, 3d & at 11.

i taught myself to code at 14. at 16 i founded , a creative agency doing film, photography, design, and web development with my best friends. we shot concerts, weddings, & festivals, and i kept shooting for myself. at 17, i did sound engineering for bands and full on stage engineering for musicals. i trained and exhibited at until i was 18 and made a ton of shit with some lovely people , , & survive from those years.

at 20, i moved to berlin and founded , a digital receipt startup.

at 22 i joined AnyMove, a mobility startup. i worked my way up from web developer to art director, working across 8 cities and 2 languages.

at 24 i joined as a creative engineer now i run design & engineering there. on the side, i ran production for an exhibition, in berlin & assisted with the cape town art fair.

i recently started a community of bright, moral minds, built the slow way, person by person. it's early days. big ideas, small details.
